I would definitely agree that knowledge is made through writing but not entirely, because I also tend to believe that knowledge is made through much of other experiences. For instance, knowledge can also come from reading novels or facing some tough situations in life, so i wouldn’t say knowledge is only made through writing, but yes, writing can put some knowledge into you. One of the ways writing create knowledge is that it gives you knowledge of different types of writing, which could involve different genres and texts for different audiences.

Blog Entry 3: Rhetorical Situation.
Bitzer defined rhetorical as a natural context of persons, events, objects, relations and an exigence which strongly invites utterance. I define rhetorical situation as a plan or an action taken to achieve a set goal. Bitzer uses many examples of rhetorical situation to prove his definition. One of the example he used in his text is ” pollution in the air”. he said that because it requires positive modification because to get rid of the pollution that would be a positive change.
Bitzer goes on to saying that rhetorical situation is defined by it’s characteristic. He also bring up some terms like Exigence, Audiences and constraints.
- Exigence: an emergency, either immediate or persisting, it is the controlling feature of the situation and is what the rhetorical situation revolves around.
- Constraints: The conditions of the audience which also influence their decision making.
- Audience: The point of the rhetoric is to bring about a change towards the exigence. By rhetoric, the instilling of certain ideas in the minds of the audience is the only way for them to function as mediator of change.
Rhetorical situations can be audiences, speeches and simple thoughts. To me rhetorical situation is any kind of problem with solution we go through. It just has to be expressing in a right way to a right person or take right action to solve the situation.
MA#1 DRAFT.
INTRODUCTION:
For this assignment, we were told to write the source based article with some requirements. Out of all the assignments, this is supposed to be the easiest because the sources are given to us. This assignment has to be at least 4-6 pages and it has to use the three articles that’s provided to us. We’re also to summarize, analyze and make connections between the three articles and also connection between the concepts of genre, audience, and rhetorical situation.
Discussion of Bazerman.
- My comfort level with the text wasn’t the best because the text was full of information and the author used so much examples to explain what he was trying to say through the texts.
- SOME QUOTES FROM THE TEXT, THAT TALKS ABOUT GENRES.
- ” To characterize how genres fit into and comprise larger organizations, roles, organizations, and activities, several overlapping concepts have been. proposed, each grabbing a different aspect of this configuration: genre set, genre system and activity system ”
- “Genres are social facts about the kinds of speech acts people can make and the ways they can make them. Genres arise in social processes of people trying to understand each other well enough to coordinate activities and share meanings for their practical purposes.”
Blog Entry 2: Genre
Before reading Bazerman.
- Genre is categories of different style of artistic work in different platforms.
- The past experience contributes in many ways such as, having to write different types of essays in college. For instance; persuasive, informative and etc. Another experience is that, having to give speech in a class using different genre about different things.
- Very important factor when it comes to writing because I think the amount of audiences that will look at your piece of work is dependent on what of genre you choose to work on.
- Not everyone has the same taste of genre to read, listen to or watch.
After reading Bazerman.
- In this case, genre is describes as different categories of texts that college requires from students in order to receive any sort of certifications or degree. The similarities I noticed is that, author and I both believe that genre is a categories of different stuff which is presented in a different ways such as, hip-hop and jazz.
- The similar convention I noticed is that both texts are constructed in a way that talks about so many different stages of life that students have to go through to get to the graduation stage. Other thing both texts have is the emotion because both texts/speech has the long years of journey and obstacles faced by students to get to the graduation stage.
Blog Entry#1- WHAT’S WRITING?
- Writing is when you can express your thoughts, ideas and feelings into words, which could catch people’s interest listening to you or make the audience feel relate-able to your writing. Successful writing is when there is a positive and life changing message. Successful writing also requires attention grabber start, relate-able or realistic climax, emotion and great suspense to keep the audiences engage.
- I like having realistic, relate-able and emotional appeal to my writing. I see myself as a writer with strong message shared in simple writing. The five key terms that defines writing for me are; ideas, theme, expressions, tone and purpose of the writing.
- Writing is also about having different flavors genres into one piece. Adding comedic and suspenseful drama can be more engaging than just some research paper. People will go for the one that has more interesting and more entertaining than long and boring pages.
- Writing is also about putting out positive messages through your ideas and feelings. Writing is one of the main platform, which can be used to put out positive messages, inspire others and teach people new things/valuable lessons. Writing can also lead to negative outcome if you put out negative things out in public. If it can inspire positively, it can also do that negatively.
My First Blog Post
Be yourself; Everyone else is already taken.

This is the first post on my new blog. I’m just getting this new blog going, so stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.
Introduce Yourself (Example Post)
This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.
You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
- Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
- Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
- Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
- What topics do you think you’ll write about?
- Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
- If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
